General awareness of maths and its application in practical contexts. Being able to manage maths problems in everyday life and in the workplace.

It means you can decide what should be calculated or measured, use the correct tools and methods in a practical way

Could be one of the following:

• Working towards Maths or Numeracy qualifications at school or college
• Managing the budget for an after school club
• Managing the league table

e.g.

I keep a record of results and tell everyone how many points we need to win the league

Or:

I organise the refreshments budget for my drama group, and I have to be sure I have the right money coming in and that we don’t spend more than we have
